Tester, i was and will always be!

I met with an old friend way back in multiply days. They just came back from US after living and his husband working there for years.

The “marketing firm” has been in my head for months already. So i brought it up with her because she’s a marketing student, and was a marketing career woman before going to US. She could definitely give me “aha” moments.
And i was not disappointed. I even, Somehow, struck a deal with her. Our minds met and locked, and proclaimed ” SEA, watch out for us!!!”
But before doing that, i need to lay my cards.
She lay her cards, while I was having a hard time identifying what are my cards. All I know is that I do any thing that requires a lot of my thick-face, and that I do things even if it meant digging a hole for sh*t. I can handle #thatawkwardmoments. I can do it from online to offline up to someone’s nightmare.
So i tried to recall my past job titles. I was customer support, technical FAQ writer which is really a customer support, tester.
So i’m a tester by heart — always testing and trying things?! 🙂

The Lunch that Launched Baybay Ultramarathon?

Earlier was some catch-up lunch with Prince of Prince Multi Sports inc and Doc Cecille. When later on it, we or they ended up creating 2 racing events.
I realized every time I talked with runners or organizers for an event, it usually would end to creating another / more running events.
I wanna #craycray. @.@
But I am kind of excited with the Idea of Baybay run. It’s going to be off-road / trail event that would pass a popular peak of Baybay. I’ve been drooling on Doc Cecille’s posts of her running ground there. And, it’s just simply pretty! 🙂

Kalikupan to Karunsa

One of the organizers that I had fun working with was the CCCAI, last June’s Kalikupan race. Dan, one of the CCcAi members, is helping out Danao lgu for the Karunsa, and so i really grab the chance working with him again. 🙂
Watch out for Athletes Talk we’ll be working together. It will be Aug. 22, 2014! See you! And karunsa will be Sept 14, 2014!

Father and son career conversation

Migi: unsa diay ngalan sa imong work, pa?

Mark: computer programmer.
Migi: aw
Mark: business man bitaw ko.
Migi: di oy. ‘Taka lang.
Mark: ngano man?
Migi: lahi man ng businessman. Naa may tindahan ng businessman mamaligya.
Mark: businessman man ko. Maghimo man ko software ibaligya. Ngano man diay?
Migi: wa man gud ko kasabot unsa imo gibuhat.
(For some reason, computer programmer is something hard to explain. Even I when asked, people’s reactions, when i replied that mark is programmer:
* naa mo’y internet cafe?
* pwede magpaayo og computer
* then you become a call center for people who wants to get advise on what specs of a computer to buy
So most of the time, my reply will be the address where the husband is working.)
It seems i’m not the only one having a problem explaining mark’s job. He’s
Probably asked what’s his father’s work…)

8:36pm 7/24/2014: mug shot vanity

I had a lot of mug shots from coffee shops. I was planning to blog about coffee shops but as they say “life happens,” and it’s like in the bottomest of priority list.

So at 836 last night, i went digging finding for them. Please find them posted here https://m.facebook.com/owrange/albums/10152274589871194/?ref=m_notif&notif_t=like&actorid=1763653346. Please like it because it’s facebook, it should be liked!

Peddler: state of PH ecommerce?

Early this year when we started offering aktib.ph as an online registration portal for races / running events.  Looking back at it, funny how we thought online payment facility is our “killer feature” / our core service, but it turned out to be just an “abobot.” And, we’re actually finding ourselves now how to accept payments offline. =) Ironic?

But I guess that’s just how the local consumers behave. And, despite the stories that online ecommerce is the next big thing, it’s just not yet locally in the Philippines. But it’s probably still right to have an online avenue, but to rely on it as the “core” means of getting payments is a funny thought unless you have no plans of earning.

I realized that “online payment service” was never our core feature. I mean looking from the race events organizers’ point of view, they never took us in for the online registration. It’s either because we’re friends, or they just want to give us a chance, or because we’re friends. =)

SO if you’re thinking of Ecommerce is the next big thing, first, be ready to go out in the streets and peddle your ware! =)

So, 1-2-3 friends, inviting you this Friday’s Athletes Talk. You can register for Talisay City Marathon with discounts! Or register to whatever races available at http://store.aktib.ph!!! Please register even if you don’t run, you can register for your friends / relatives / crushes!

And, if you know any one organizing a race, please refer them to us! =) We will offer payment portal and friendship! =)

8:36 7/17/2014: third team media

Was it on twitter that i first met @fleirecastro?
But i probably first met her in the first techtalk’s meetups.
Anyway, i was desperate to talk to another person who is not into running so i went to her office at iMez in The Outlet / Pueblo Verde. It was my first time to be in that place. Some factory outlets, interesting brands like adidas, nike, guordiano, are located there.
It was nice to see her and her team reall doing well. If you need social media management, you can get in touch with them.
