It seems that Google, eBay, Twitter and Facebook haven’t seen the same success in China that they have in the U.S. and Europe. How’s that possible? Is there a common reason?
My thought here is that local web / mobile app start-ups would have an easier way of getting traction / support from the Filipinos if English is not our main language because, of course, we’d be more comfortable using an app that speaks our own language. And, US/English apps could not just easily enter our market since they need to make their app localized first — this will somehow give us a part of the developing /customizing the application and in the business. Foreign internet companies may need to set-up an office locally before they can penetrate the Philippine market — this way we have bigger participation in the internet business than just being users.
