october

* 90 more or so days, and it will be 2011. Funny, because it’s the first time in my life that I don’t want the year to end. I felt that there are too many things and tasks I want to straighten out before going to the new year. It must be with the age. And, this will be the last time I will mention that I’m getting old. I’ll be 30 next year.

Is this over-quarterlife crisis? I don’t think so. I have too many things in my mind to be bothered with quarterlife crisis.

* The latest national issue is that RH bill — reproductive health. When I was a grader, that was already an issue. Now that I will soon have a grader kid, it is still an issue. It reminds me, where is Flavier? The ‘Let’s DOH it’ guy.

It seems we are not hook up with our past. We are actually still in the past. Can we eppin move on, Philippains.

life in random pics

* Lately in the news, there’s a debate about ‘no-homework-on-fridays’ policy/memorandum/or whatever you call it. I can’t believe there are parents who are against it. As for me, I want a ‘no-homework’ policy or maybe ‘do-as-you-please’ homework policy.

It already feels like life is all about ticking off the task list. In school, you are told what to do, after school, you have to continue doing what you are told to do. I probably have taken it wrongly but that’s what I feel now.
* It’s not an internet cafe. It’s our home.

* Migi has now lost 2 milk teeth, and in replacement are 2 crooked teeth.

* I finished Fidel Castro: My Life book. There are too many deep terms and such that I could not quite grasp the whole thing but it’s just nice to ‘listen’ to such passionate man, which can be interpreted as him being extremist. Well, he is extremist but I’d rather have an extremist than a safe/popular guy without much passion. It was a worth-the-time read, made me think, “yes, why does it have to be like that?” But I’ll spare myself writing the whole drama of life.

While Mark is still reading Larry Elison (Oracle guy). This is like socialist versus capitalist.

* Migi is now kinder to grasshoppers, he no longer pull of its legs and wings. He only just make them dizzy with his rough play.

* As much as I would like to say I don’t get affected with school performance, I can’t help but get bother sometimes why Migi’s not that good at English/Reading especially when I saw his papers with 0 score with a matching note ‘Please study.’

But when I see this side of Migi, I feel at peace that whatever happens, he can always build his own circus show.

Mati’s litow feet

* Youngests are always the cuteness. This sounds silly but there are times I feel the urge to have more babies. But I’m already ligated, which makes me wonder I could have more mati-like babies.

Favoritism? It’s just that Mati is the left-behind kid when Migi and Meg are at school, thus he gets to be picked on most by the people at home.  I guess favoritism is not really a problem, unless you’ll make it an issue.

* Bye-bye foldable high-chair. When I saw it to be given away, it’s like a sign that we’re slowly out of the ‘baby stage.’ Level up. =)
* Mark’s other set of kids. They’re a few more of them back at their office. I don’t know how they see it, but Mark’s kinda see them as his kids, who, I guess one of these days, will leave and have their own ‘kids.’ Being lurking around, I’m quite excited to see what will they become in the future. Who knows, they will soon have my kids and your kids as their ‘kids’ too. =) So I wish somehow Mark can have some positive contribution to their life learning. =)

* How to have a mess-free meal time, let them eat outside.
* The other cast in Migi’s circus show.

* When I make it a point to be not bothered much chasing a stable life, but instead learn how to be stable in a very wavy life, life has been good. I hope I made sense there.

* I’m very thankful to be surrounded with nice people. Somehow, everyone who comes into our life is nice. I really thank God for that.

* I could say I have a big faith in God. I just wish the priests can minimize preaching about poor versus rich. There are better stories to tell. And, zippp my mouth.

Spelling List #13

Boat
Helicopter
Vinta
Jeepney
Bicycle
pedicab
Calesa
Tricyle
Submarine
Yacht

Can 6-year olds really grasp on how to spell these words?

I remember back in Badian Central School, I learned to read Ba Be Bi Bo Bu and basic english words in Grade 1 already. I can fully read complicated words by Grade 3 that’s when I started to read Mills & boons pocketbooks of my nanay in hiding.

I mean really I don’t know what to make of it. How to teach them in a non-memorizing way.

Jeepney Rides

I grow up without the luxury of a car thus I’m used to going around via public transportation. But lately, I never get to do it because I rarely go somewhere other than home/office. So every time I get a chance to be in a jeepney nowadays, I always introspect as to why I like jeepney rides because others generally don’t like jeepneys. I try to understand myself, my fondness of public transportation.

So I realized that:

  • I like jeepney rides because I love to people-watch. If you’re in the comfort of your own car, you don’t get to do that. I like making up stories of people around me in the jeepneys. Jeepney rides exercise my faculty for imagination.
  • Being in the environment where we’re surrounded with computers & internet, we forget what is really a common everyday life. Thus, being in a jeepney or a bus, you are reminded how real life is. You will realize that ‘great customer service’ is overrated – who the fucks care if you’re not comfortable with your seat. The real world is survival of the fittest. =)
  • Having computer/internet at disposal to entertain & educate you, jeepney rides remove you from those ‘luxuries.’ Thus, it gives you the time to sit still and do nothing. So to entertain yourself, you have not much choice but to access your thoughts and brains to keep you from getting bored. It gives you time to introspect on your own, without any input from other media like internet/TV. And, you’ll see that there are also interesting stuff in your head than from the newsfeed/timeline of your online world. Of course, I don’t mean you get away from your online world but try to make time to look into your head so you have something interesting/new to add to the newsfeed/timeline.

In my jeepney ride today, I look at the people around me, and think if do all of them have facebook account, do they know twitter, do they care about web/mobile applications. Probably, one or 2 of them. So it makes me think about how do you penetrate the Filipino ‘masses’ with your web application, how can you make them support the local web/mobile tech start-up industry? Would the language you use to create your product matter to them? Would they care if it’s an html5 or flash?

I got cut-off writing this when an Aunt approached me, and had conversation with me. I can no longer recall what I was supposed to add to this.

Twitter Smiles Collection

I met a few friends from twitter earlier, and it kind of give me an idea of meeting more of them and have a picture with them. =) And, then have a collection of the smiles – like what http://jessleecuizon.com is doing.

This will be hard for me because I’m a painfully shy person, as one friend described me. I can be really loud online, but offline, I’m a ‘wallpaper.’

The first pic was with @lasagnasurfer & @roui926. I wonder who will be the nexts with. =) Ready my smiles.
