They stated, “We have tended to think leadership has the capacity to initiate change and get things done.”  This obsolete view keeps people from focusing on the importance of collective effort, teamwork and self reliance by relying so much on government.  It also negates the people the pivotal role they play in transformative governance: the wellspring of progress in a democratic society

Google Health will be discontinued as a service. - No Wealth in Health? Only Ads?

In the coming months, we’re going to retire two products that didn’t catch on the way we would have hoped, but did serve as influential models: Google Health (retiring January 1, 2012; data available for download through January 1, 2013) and Google PowerMeter (retiring September 16, 2011). Both were based on the idea that with more and better information, people can make smarter choices, whether in regard to managing personal health and wellness, or saving money and conserving energy at home. While they didn't scale as we had hoped, we believe they did highlight the importance of access to information in areas where it’s traditionally been difficult.

It looks like it's easier to make money from asking people to click ads, than asking them to be track their health.

Mobile OS Tally: Apple-7, Nokia-6, Android-1, Blackberry-?

I got this image from the slides below. I'm surprise to see that:

* Japan loves Apple. I mean they're known to be so advanced regarding mobile devices with their DOCOMO. But it seems they're ditching their own for Apple.

* Nokia is still number 2, and I think Android and Blackberry have still a lot of catching up to do. And, looking at it, it seems, it'll be really stupid for them to make Windows their flagship mobile OS.

* Android is most popular in South Korea - not the surprising thing. The surprising thing is that it just shows how nationalistic South Koreans are -- for buying their Samsung / LG phones over iPhone.

* Blackberry - If the infograph is true, it confirms that they're really in trouble. But probably only to the individual consumer. They're probably still strong with the enterprise -- companies who wants to keep track of their employees. =)

* You might be more profitable making symbian apps over Android. I guess Android does well with creating hardware using it, than creating software for it. Or, create hardware and software and sell them as one.

It just makes me wonder why in Cebu, Philippines, it’s easy to put up a resto business but not a software business. We’ll just put up a little BBQ stall, & people will never miss it. It might not be a hit but you will never be zeroed.

And, I thought that because:

  • we have a population of food consumers, but not much of web / app consumers. It goes both ways. Web / tech consumerism has just started. So it will be probably take more time that we can all internalize it, and then these web consumers will become creators. Just like we eat too much lechon, that creating a business out of it will not be much of a struggle.
  • the web / app consumers are the younger gens which do not have much buying power. So we probably have to wait for them until they can afford and sell software to them. The older gens are still ‘hardware’ era – it’s about LCD tv and stereo.

And oh my food has arrived. But basically that’s the thought.

Globe has selective memory, says PLDT - TELCONOVELA - equivalent to TV Network's drama series

Espinosa narrated Globe’s transgressions or “false” claims:

  • it opposed text interconnection in 1999,
  • it opposed bucket price offerings between Smart and Piltel,
  • it rejoiced in the PLDT-Digitel deal believing, wrongly, that PLDT would put an end to Sun’s unlimited services,
  • PLDT and Globe are interconnected and continue to interconnect

And, they really have to bring back their past -- their whole history. It makes me think that TELCOS are girls, and they watch too much drama on TV.

Gravity Tip #1 - Reset Instapaper Login

You simply have to create a new tweet with the text "i -" (that's a minus character and don't type the quotes) and click Update, don't worry it won't actually post this message to Twitter.  You should then notice that you get a status message informing you that the login details have been reset.  Simple once you know how.
